JOKE:
Ray & Bubba
(Mechanical Engineers)
were standing at the base of a flagpole, looking up.
A woman walked by and asked what they were doing.
'We're supposed to find the height of the flagpole,' said Bubba,
'but we don't have a ladder.'
The woman took a wrench from her purse, loosened a few bolts,
and laid the pole down. Then she took a tape measure from her
pocket, took a measurement, announced, 'Eighteen feet, six inches,'
and walked away.
Ray shook his head and laughed. 'Ain't that just like a woman!
We ask for the height and she gives us the length!'
.....Bubba and Ray are currently working for the Canadian Government.
*****This is an important meeting in defining what direction the club will follow for 2009 – please come to have a say.*****

It's winter in Edmonton
And the gentle breezes blow
Seventy miles an hour
At thirty-five below.
Oh, how I love Edmonton
When the snow's up to your butt
You take a breath of winter
And your nose gets frozen shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I'll hang around
I could never leave Edmonton
I'm frozen to the friggin' ground!
Have a great January - ugh!

Oct 30, 2007:
Year End Newsletter:
After a short but aggressive season, with a few new faces added to the club we once again say goodbye to the race season. We saw many highs such as a blistering hot race day of 36 degrees in the pits out in Kindersley for Dirt Cup, to the Chilly Rainy Nights out at Wetaskiwin.
Competition for first, second and third place were remarkably close. On September 22, at Wetaskiwin we had a great reminder about what this club is about…#19 Roger Reid, our season points leader, car broke in hotlaps, #11 John Jones who had brought two cars for a better car count that day, loaned his 2nd car to Roger so he would be able to still race, Shone Laing #17 who was battling for second place also broke, Roger helped him out by loaning him his rear-end from his broken car so he too could continue to race. Even our 2nd place leader #65 Rookie to our class but far from one, Doug Dyment got some help with his car to keep him in the running. To put it shortly everyone was racing and I don’t think there was one car in the class that hadn’t borrowed or loaned another driver something, or a driver who didn’t get his hands dirty helping someone else fix something. (yep drivers not pit guys) We managed to have just about everyone start the main and to put on a great show for the fans. At the end of the night different drivers and their crews could be seen helping each other load up.
This is what the class is based on – one group coming together battling it out on the track to be number #1 – AND in the pits a great group willing to do anything to help out the guy beside them. Sometimes this gets lost in the mix and we need a friendly reminder, and this race day definitely was. J
As always I’m grateful to be a continuing part of this group, and I am looking forward to the 2008 season which from various rumors and speculation…should have a lot of the same drivers in new cars and possibly some more new faces joining the ranks.
So congrats to the winners! Thank You! To everyone who helped out this year-Stepping up and filling in when others couldn’t make it. BOOOO to the weather Gods who cut the season short and prayers that next season will be an evenly matched, peddle to the floor, action filled, exciting fan encouraging Race Season!
